Subject: | R. Shlomo Heiman (1892-1944), Talmudist and Rosh Yeshiva, was born in Paritch, near Minsk. Early in his career, he taught at the Baranovich Yeshiva. In 1927, he was appointed Rosh Yeshiva of the Ramailes Yeshiva in Vilna. In 1935, he left Vilna for New York, where he served with distinction as Rosh Yeshiva of Mesivta Torah Vodaas in Brooklyn until his untimely death in 1944. He taught, influenced, and ordained many of the leading rabbis and roshei yeshiva who would leave their mark on the next generation of Torah study in America and Israel. His publications include: חידושי רבי שלמה על ענינים שונים בש”ס (Tel-Aviv, 1966); חידושי רבי שלמה: שיעורים ובירורי סוגיות על סדר נשים נזיקין חולין ועוד (Bnai Brak, 1981); חידושי רבי שלמה על התורה ומועדים (Lakewood, 2013); and later editions of the items listed. |
